A ROOM FOR STILLNESS IN COLOGNE

Warm light in the AURA room

We are exposed to so much noise every single day. At work, on the street, in the media, on social media.

There is an overflow of information crashing into us every day, and it is barely possible to process all of it.

The brain can only process a limited amount of information per day.

But we try to understand and consume everything anyway, and then scroll through social media all day on top of it.

What often happens then is that we lose the connection to ourselves. We no longer know what actually does us good, we lose ourselves somewhere along the way, we get exhausted, sometimes even burnt out or affected by physical symptoms.

And yet sometimes all we really need is rest.

And it is incredibly hard to escape all of it.

Yes, you can lock your phone away at home, make everything quiet, and stay away from anything that floods you with too much information, and then simply be in stillness at home, meditate, and be with yourself.

But very quickly the responsibilities call, the household, and reaching for your phone is simply too tempting and too close.

And even if you manage to create a quiet hour at home, it is still something different than when a space is held by someone else. Our nervous system notices the difference. When someone is there who is fully with you, without wanting anything from you, something in you can relax that often cannot relax alone. A part of us stays awake when we are truly alone, a small inner watch that keeps guard. In a held space, that watch is allowed to let go for a while, because someone else is keeping watch too.

That is why it sometimes takes a space that feels like home, without being your actual home. A space where you can feel good and be fully with yourself, where you can arrive, so you can switch off all the noise and hear your own inner voice again.

That is why I offer this space in Cologne several times a week, in a group.

And for some people, it takes even more space than a group can give. That is why I also work one to one. In a single session, the pace is entirely up to you. There is no group to consider, no schedule but your own. Sometimes that is exactly the difference it takes to really arrive, deeply.

What actually happens in the room of stillness?

Movement inside the AURA room

First we arrive gently, drink tea, and check in briefly as a group. Then follows a short movement part, where we dance, maybe jump, simply feel somatically and physically, breathe, and meditate a little. All of that helps us come out of our heads.

Because I have noticed that it is very hard to simply be here without a movement part first. After that comes the real stillness: one to one and a half hours in which you are truly only with yourself. Maybe you write, look into the distance, prepare nothing, and you can simply be here.

Right now, it is still my home, but what I want to offer you is a place that feels like your own home, like a temple you can keep returning to whenever you need time for yourself.
